Communication
We communicate via our website, Instagram, Facebook and a one-way WhatsApp group, which you can join if you want to when you come to visit Casa. We aim to communicate in a way that is understandable, clear and easy to read.
We communicate mainly in Finnish, but you can also find information in Swedish and English on the website. You may communicate with the staff of the Cultural Workshop in Finnish, English and basic Swedish. Group activities are led by peer tutors and are usually given in Finnish – other language skills in the groups vary. You are very welcome to participate in activities and groups also with limited Finnish language skills.

Built environment
Main entrance of Cultural Workshop has a gate and fairly high step. Press door phone number 14 ”Kulttuuripaja” and wait for us to open the door. Go through the corridor, then take the stairs or lift on the right to the second floor, where our door will be open. Workshop employee or peer tutor will come to welcome you.
You can access Cultural Workshop by wheel chair, but it requires assistance, for the building has no unobstructed entrances. With asisstant (e.g. tax driver) you may enter through the main entrance with the gate and a high step, mut without assistant we recommend you let us know about your visit and then arrive with the wheelchair through courtyard and the back door. You can access those via Kauppiaskatu, by the Omenahotelli. We are happy to assist you cross the inaccessible parts.
Inside the Cultural Workshop apartment rooms and doorways are wide and well suited for wheelchairs, but there are thresholds (a bit more than 10 cm wide, less than 5 cm high) that may require assistance to cross.
The toilet in Casa is not accessible. The nearest accessible public toilet is located one block away at the Turku City Library.
The acoustics in the Casa is somewhat echoey and the ceiling lighting consists of fluorescent tubes. On the other hand, its many rooms also have many quiet, peaceful and less bright spots and corners. To get the best idea of the facilities, please visit us. You are welcome to visit the place on a guided tour, usually on Tuesdays at 12 noon, but check the weekly programme (look for ”Tervetuloa mukaan”) but you may also arrange personal visit by contacting us first.
